Edited by Cathryn Manduca and David Mogk, this volume brings together essays by geoscientists, cognitive scientists, and educators that explore how expert geoscientists learn about the Earth and the implications for student learning.

- On the Cutting Edge featured in April 2007 issue of Elements Magazine . PIs Manduca and Mogk, along with other workshop leaders and participants wrote articles discussing the new trends and directions in teaching mineralogy, petrology, and geochemistry in the 21st century.
Starting Point
- Visit the new Starting Point module on teaching with Experience-Based Environmental Projects, which features the Lifestyle Project. This three-week project challenges students to learn about environmental alternatives by modifying their own lifestyles.

Using Data in the Classroom
- The first wave of examples in the new DataSheet format has been released in Using Data in the Classroom. DataSheets present a bridging structure between the raw data set that is available on the web and their educational use. DataSheets lay out how to use the dataset and its relation to curricular concerns.
